Start by clearly evaluating your desired utility, quality tolerances and any anticipated longer term plans.  Structural design or expected  simplicity of
assembly may not meet your objectives.  Value for Price (within budget) is a key ingredient.  Narrow down your search by assessing the following:

  • Determine the final real cost based on necessary items that are not included in the packaged price.  Typically, foundations,  roofing materials &
    delivery charges are extra.  Many prefab packages do not include proper floor systems.
  • Do I have the aptitude and tools for completing such a project? Do I need a contractor to assemble; at what price & time lines to complete?
  • Type and cost of foundation; how will this be orchestrated?
  • Does the design allow for installation of adequate insulation, plumbing, wiring and assembly on a foundation without requiring additional materials?

Some prefab packages include finished walls.  Why does rangercabins.com have siding as an option?

When reviewing prefab products, determine the type of construction, especially those associated with a manufacturer that provides so called finished
walls.  Specifically, you may discover that the structural design is unorthodox – the wall paneling may simply stack together in some modular format without
the benefit of an adequate wall assembly or plywood sheathing.  This compromises rigidity, resistance to extreme weather conditions, the ability to install
electrical & plumbing utilities, insulation, building wrap and in some cases, adequate roof ventilation.  You may also want to assess the grade/quality of
materials and resistance to wind force rain, especially where the walls meet the floor and all openings.
